T. J. Cachey Builders, Inc., II was established in 1927 by
stone mason Joseph Cachey who built his
family-owned-and-operated business on a solid foundation of
integrity and trust. Three generations later, the name Cachey
still personifies home building excellence to hundreds of
families throughout the south and southwest suburbs.
In 1921 Joseph Cachey, then only 20,
emigrated to the United States from Italy with $10 in his
pocket. Undaunted by his lack of capital yet armed with a
willingness to work hard to make a living, Joseph brought his
time-honored family tradition of excellence in stone masonry
and marble cutting to the residents of Chicago. After serving
as a stone mason's apprentice for five years, Joseph started
his own contracting company to buy, sell and develop real
estate.
Ted Cachey, who also started in the trades
as a bricklayer for his father Joseph, established the present
family business of professional home building four decades
ago. For the past 40 years Ted Cachey has maintained a
successful law practice, operating in tandem with the
development and building company. Today, more than
seventy-two years later, the family business is carried on by
Joseph Cachey's grandson, Tom Cachey, now president of T. J.
Cachey Builders, Inc., II.
